Global experience of food safety risks management: analysis and prospects of implementation in Ukraine during the post-war period
Abstract
At the current stage of development of any country, the issue of ensuring the country's food security is very relevant. In general, the issue of ensuring food security is one of the most acute problems of humanity, because food is a basic indicator of human life, and the sufficiency, completeness and availability of food for the population is a kind of measure of the well-being of any nation. Therefore, practically every state, regardless of the level of its socio-economic development and geopolitical situation, traditionally strives to solve the food problem as quickly and efficiently as possible, to ensure national food security. One of the effective methods for managing and minimizing food safety risks is taking into account and implementing world experience. The purpose of the article is to study the global experience of food safety risk management and develop proposals for their implementation in the practical space of Ukraine. The article examines the current state and main points of food safety risk management in such countries as: countries of the European Union, the United States of America, China, and India. In addition, in order to provide effective recommendations for reducing the risks of food security in Ukraine, the strengths and weaknesses of the development of domestic food were analyzed according to the research of the British research and analytical center Economist Intelligence Unit with the support of the agricultural company Corteva Agriscience when calculating the Global Food Security Index, which consists of four key parameters. As a conclusion, the main problematic points, which should be addressed by the policy of Ukraine in the field of ensuring food security in the post-war period, were listed, taking into account the foreign experience of food security risk management, as well as recommendations provided by the British research and analytical center Economist Intelligence Unit. As perspectives for further research, it was noted that there is no separate law, separate strategy or concept of food safety regulation or food safety risk management in Ukraine.
