Modeling as a way of productive knowledge acquisition

Abstract

The article deals with the currently relevant topic regarding the presentation of educational material, namely modeling, which, in turn, acts as a way of productive assimilation of knowledge. The classification of the types of models with the help of which it is possible to provide information is presented. The concept of the visual information field is considered, as a form of presentation of information that is perceived by the subject through the visual (visual) channel and that can be placed in the field of vision of a person for direct perception.

An important problem when transitioning to a new education system is the problem of selecting, structuring, and modeling the content of educational material, providing it with clarity and logical justification, as well as creating, on this basis, models of presenting knowledge and skills that will allow the most productive assimilation of educational material.

In modern society, the concept of a model, which expresses the relationship between objects A and B, has become widespread. From an epistemological point of view, a model is an information substitute-substitute for the original and has a purposeful character, because model conformity is mediated by a certain goal and different goals will, accordingly, belong to different models

The model performs the following epistemological functions: 1) the model can carry information about the original, mediated by the model representation; 2) due to its specific properties, different from those of the original, the model allows to obtain additional information, to expand the information space; 3) as a result of model matching, additional information about models can be transferred to the original, thereby expanding knowledge about it; 4) the model is more convenient for learning, i.e. it has clarity, visibility, accessibility, ease of operation, more than the original.

These important qualities of the model determined its wide application in various fields of knowledge and practice and led to the emergence of modeling as a way of productive knowledge acquisition.

In general, modeling can be represented as a cognitive process consisting of three successive stages of actions: I stage - building a model for the original, II stage - researching the model, III stage - transferring information about the model to the original or its interpretation on the original.
